OIT To Play Critical Role as UT Dallas Ramps Up AI Ambitions
Image: Primary University of Texas at Dallas President Prabhas V. Moghe told the Office of Information Technology that its services are more important than ever as the university advances artificial intelligence capabilities.
Moghe said OIT work supports faculty, students and staff and that the office will help expand its impact under the three pillars of his Roadmap 2030 plan. Those pillars cover student success, academic and research convergence, and relationships with industry and the community, he said.
The president said the university plan will rely on data and require explicit definitions of student success, such as graduation rates, first-year retention, internships, study abroad and research participation. He said the university must emphasize AI in health, manufacturing, energy and life sciences and that an AI task force is already seeking national best practices to recommend competitive steps.
Moghe said industry engagement will be key as North Texas grows. He said the university stands positioned to drive industry growth through support for students, faculty and research partnerships that tackle new challenges.
