Viridi closes €2.6 million round to scale carbon dioxide chemistry Image: EU-Startups
British chemical technology startup Viridi has closed a €2.6 million (£2.2 million) funding round to scale its technology, expand its team and support growth in Asia and the US. Odyssey Ventures led the round, with Alphatron Impact Ventures, existing angel investors and Thaioil's venture arm TOP Ventures participating. The University of Southampton spinout develops a catalyst that enables factories to use captured carbon dioxide in chemical production with existing equipment. Its first major application is surfactants used in home and personal care products. Thaioil said the technology has been tested in real manufacturing environments; the new funding supports further scale-up and commercial deployment.
