Oxford-based FluoRok has secured €26.64 million ($30 million) in Series A financing to expand production of fluorochemicals without hazardous hydrogen fluoride. Orano Ventures Fund/Supernova Invest led the round, with participation from Bidra Innovation Ventures and existing investors. The Oxford spin-out uses mechanical activation and base chemistry to extract fluorine from lower-grade minerals and industrial waste using off-the-shelf equipment. Its target markets include pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and lithium-ion batteries. FluoRok plans to build demonstrator facilities for reagents and battery electrolyte salts, expand its team and deepen commercial partnerships. The company says it has completed pilot qualifications, with products undergoing validation by more than ten partners across eight countries.
