The United States has confirmed that it deployed a weapon in Earth's orbit, according to comments by Air Force Secretary Troy Meink reported by the BBC. Meink said the on-orbit weapon was needed to safeguard U.S. forces against hostile action, but did not describe its capability or say when it was deployed. A Space Force spokesperson said space-control capabilities can use kinetic and non-kinetic means to disrupt, degrade or destroy adversary capabilities when directed by combatant commands. China warned against an arms race in space.
