Volkswagen US electric vehicle sales fall 90% as supply contracts

Volkswagen US electric vehicle sales fall 90% as supply contracts Image: Primary
Volkswagen sold 1,421 electric vehicles in the United States in the third quarter, down 90% from a year earlier, The Next Web reports. The decline followed the end of ID.4 production in Chattanooga in April and a halt to ID. Buzz imports, leaving dealers selling remaining inventory. ID.4 sales fell 92.1% to 989, while ID. Buzz sales fell 82.5% to 432. Volkswagen's total US sales declined 10.9% to 78,179. The report identifies reduced supply as the driver of the electric vehicle decline. Chattanooga shifted to building the petrol Atlas; the electric minivan is due to return as a 2028 model.
