Microsoft confirms September updates can disrupt Remote Desktop Services

Microsoft confirms September updates can disrupt Remote Desktop Services Image: Primary
Microsoft confirmed that September 2026 security updates can cause Remote Desktop Services failures on Windows Server systems, BleepingComputer reported. The known issue affects Windows Server 2012 and later as well as Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices. In affected environments, RDP connections can fail, sign-in can break and servers can hang; related management tools may also become unresponsive. Microsoft has issued Group Policy mitigations for affected versions and says restarting an affected virtual machine may temporarily restore connectivity while it works on a permanent fix.
