Preprint demonstrates tractor-network transfer of manuals for offline AI assistance

Researchers transferred a complete equipment manual over a physical agricultural machinery network in 31 to 89 seconds, demonstrating a way to update an offline tractor assistant when an implement connects, a preprint reports. The method uses the existing ISO 11783 request and transport mechanisms with a new parameter group. Locally run language models answered most questions on the English manual correctly when given retrieved passages, but performed worse on five other language editions. Semantic retrieval enabled questions across languages where keyword retrieval failed. The proof of concept ran on PC-grade hardware; deployment on embedded agricultural hardware remains future work.
