Anthropic Brings In-Country Claude Inference To India Through Amazon Bedrock

Anthropic announced on August 3, 2026 that it has made its Claude AI models available with in-country inference in India through Amazon Bedrock, allowing requests to be processed on local servers. The company said India is one of the largest markets for Claude and that a top request from organizations has been for local access options. Running inference in-country gives Indian organizations the certainty to serve customers in highly regulated verticals such as banks, insurers, and public and government agencies, Anthropic said. Managing Director of India Irina Ghose said bringing Claude inference to India is a turning point for enterprise AI in the country and that when data can stay in India, AI moves from pilots into the systems that matter most. AWS India and South Asia President Sandeep Dutta said institutions from banks to government agencies can now deploy Claude on the same trusted infrastructure they already run their most critical workloads on. Anthropic opened its Bengaluru office in February and its India team has grown since then. Large enterprises including TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, LTM and LTTS are deploying Claude across their organizations, while digital natives such as Swiggy and Zoho are embedding it into everyday products. Anthropic also noted partnerships with state governments and public health programs involving personal data that cannot leave the country. The company said it is making progress on improving Claude's performance in India's most widely spoken languages and is holding its first Claude Certification for Partners in Bengaluru this week, aiming to certify 5,000 people.
