So the Demon-Centaur Robot Known as Threehalves Is Definitely a Joke, Right?
Image: Primary The Demon-Centaur Robot Known as Threehalves is being discussed as either satire or an actual robot by Satyress Robotics.
The company claims Threehalves is a superhumanoid general purpose robot designed for dangerous manual labor in disaster zones like wildfires or unstable rubble or mudslides, operated remotely via joystick. An unnamed Satyress Robotics representative told The Debrief the design is obviously over the top but insists it is a real project for teleoperators to do dangerous work from a safe distance, not a joke.
The representative said the demonic horns prevent the robot from fitting through standard doors to avoid misuse in commercial or residential buildings. Satyress admits images are mock-ups or prototypes and they are still at component-level testing with commercial versions years away. No videos of the robot in operation exist online.
