UNM Health restores critical systems after cyberattack disrupted care

UNM Health restores critical systems after cyberattack disrupted care Image: Primary
UNM Health Sciences said Tuesday that all critical electronic systems were back online and its hospitals were fully open after a cyberattack disrupted care. Ambulance traffic returned to normal, and clinics resumed scheduled appointments and procedures after Monday's admission limits, ambulance diversions and outpatient suspensions. Ransomware group Byod claimed responsibility and alleged a much broader compromise involving 36,000 systems and stolen patient, employee and student data. UNM said its assessment found that the incident affected some end-user devices but did not penetrate core systems or servers. Classes at its four health sciences schools were canceled Tuesday, and nonessential employees were told to stay home.
