RentAHuman operates as an online marketplace that lets artificial intelligence agents hire people to perform physical tasks such as deliveries, photography, event attendance and package pickup. The platform was developed in a day and a half Developers connect AI agents to the platform through a model context protocol server or REST API. The software scans a directory of people Liteplo and Tani said in an interview with Wired that the system treats humans as physical extensions of AI agents. Liteplo stated that humans remain necessary because artificial intelligence cannot perform certain real-world actions. Tani said people would prefer an algorithm as a boss because it avoids personal conflicts. Some critics have described the service as a marketing effort rather than a stable employment option. Early users have also reported difficulty securing assignments on the platform.
