Google agrees to give Prospect recruitment access to UK offices

Google agrees to give Prospect recruitment access to UK offices Image: Primary
Google has agreed to let the Prospect union recruit employees in its UK offices, including its King's Cross headquarters, The Next Web reported. The agreement announced Monday permits in-person and online conversations and workplace sessions about joining a union. Google employs more than 7,000 people in the UK. Prospect wants enough members to seek formal recognition, which would give it a say over pay, flexible working and AI deployment. The agreement follows a UK law giving unions workplace access; employers that repeatedly refuse can face fines of up to £500,000.
