New Zealand confirms court data exposure in ZenTech breach

New Zealand confirms court data exposure in ZenTech breach Image: Primary
New Zealand's Ministry of Justice confirmed that Coroners Court information was captured in a ransomware breach at Zenith Technologies, delaying a small number of current cases. Insurance Business reported that the ministry has no contract with the company and is investigating how the information came to be held there. The attack occurred around August 2026 and did not target court systems directly. The affected information largely concerns Otago/Southland cases from 2016 to 2022. Health New Zealand is helping lead the government response and says its own digital systems were not affected.
