OpenAI updating ChatGPT desktop app with GPT Voice for talking through work

OpenAI updating ChatGPT desktop app with GPT Voice for talking through work Image: Primary
OpenAI is releasing a big update to the ChatGPT desktop app today that introduces GPT Voice mode for talking through work to complete tasks. The new feature is powered by GPT-Live, OpenAI's upgraded voice mode that arrived on mobile this month. ChatGPT Voice lets you talk through work and coordinate tasks in Chat, Work, and Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app. Start a new chat or task in voice mode, then ask ChatGPT to start, check, or steer work in other threads. While ChatGPT Voice is available on both macOS and Windows, Mac users can enjoy one more capability with Appshots. When used with ChatGPT Voice, Appshots lets ChatGPT reference the active window in focus for better context. ChatGPT Voice also works with OpenAI's highly capable Computer Use feature, local files, and ChatGPT plugins. The release notes clarify that voice is supported on OpenAI plans including Plus, Pro, Business, Edu, and Enterprise on desktop. The new voice mode also works with ChatGPT's Remote feature on iOS. Additionally, this week's ChatGPT desktop app update improves how project folders work. Local projects in the ChatGPT desktop app can now include multiple related folders. From a project's menu, select Edit project to add folders and choose the primary folder. New chats, Git operations, and automatic discovery of AGENTS.md, skills, and config.toml use the primary folder. Secondary folders remain available for file search, reading, and editing.
