GitHub Copilot removes four legacy AI models
Image: Primary GitHub Copilot retired Gemini 3.5 Flash, Gemini 3.6 Flash, Kimi K2.7 Code and Claude Opus 4.7 on October 2, according to a news roundup published on note. The models were removed from chat, code completion and agent mode, which lets the assistant carry out tasks autonomously.
GitHub recommends Gemini 3.8 Flash, Kimi K3 or Claude Opus 5.5 as alternatives. Individual users need take no action because the retired models disappear automatically. Copilot Enterprise administrators may need to enable replacement models in settings before employees can select them.
