Blumenthal seeks Apple donation records ahead of possible January subpoenas

Blumenthal seeks Apple donation records ahead of possible January subpoenas Image: Primary
Senator Richard Blumenthal called on Apple and other donors to President Trump's White House ballroom project to turn over records or face possible subpoenas in January, Reuters reported. Blumenthal is set to chair the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations as Democrats prepare to take control of both congressional chambers. Apple and Nvidia each pledged $25 million to the project, The Washington Post previously reported. Lawmakers are also preparing scrutiny of Apple's handling of ICE-tracking apps. Apple removed ICEBlock and similar apps last year following Justice Department pressure, citing federal agents' safety. Apple did not immediately respond to the news organizations' requests for comment.
