VSMC opens Singapore wafer fab and enters risk production

VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company has opened its first 300mm wafer fab in Tampines, Singapore, and entered risk production, an initial manufacturing phase ahead of commercial volume output. The joint venture between Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation and NXP processed initial sample lots with yields exceeding 99 per cent. The plant will manufacture chips using processes from 130nm to 40nm for automotive, industrial, mobile, consumer and high-performance computing markets. Its technologies include mixed-signal, power management, analogue and interposer manufacturing. Commercial volume production is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. By 2029, the plant is projected to reach monthly capacity of 44,000 wafers and create 1,600 local jobs.
