AWS cleared to support NATO Restricted workloads across member states

Amazon Web Services has gained approval for its services to support systems handling NATO Restricted information across the alliance's member states, The Next Web reports. Spain's National Cryptologic Center assessed AWS against NATO's public-cloud security directive, and NATO accepted those findings for use by its allies. AWS says approved services can be used in its 15 regions located in NATO countries. Spanish authorities also cleared its Spain region to handle the country's equivalent classification. The approvals establish a common security baseline for governments considering AWS, but they cover AWS's infrastructure rather than customers' systems; each customer still needs the required national accreditation.
