Schwab blocks outside AI agents from moving client money

Schwab blocks outside AI agents from moving client money Image: Primary
Charles Schwab is blocking unauthorized AI agents, including Meta's Muse, from moving clients' money, CEO Rick Wurster told Bloomberg Television on Friday. He cited clients giving agents their passwords and uncertainty over liability when something goes wrong. Schwab plans controlled connections through model context protocol servers, which let outside AI tools access systems under bank-set rules. Those tools will be able to check balances and conduct research, but cannot move money. Wurster also wants clients to use Schwab's assistant, Charley.
