Mathematicians dispute credit as OpenAI claims 90-year-old math proof

Cornell's Steven Strogatz told WIRED the episode reflects corporate labs racing for headlines ahead of blockbuster IPOs, and said mathematicians will not compete on breakthrough work without AI.
