OpenAI Astra launched: Features, capabilities, and what's new

OpenAI announced its next major AI model family, Astra, on Monday, saying an internal version helped researchers achieve advances in mathematics and theoretical computer science. The company said the model family is designed to push AI reasoning further than previous generations. Astra supported breakthroughs in coding theory, group theory, quantum complexity and theoretical computer science, according to OpenAI. The company said the system produced machine-checkable proofs and that human researchers reviewed and verified the results throughout the process. OpenAI said Astra offers stronger reasoning abilities, allowing it to solve complex problems, follow logical steps, manage longer tasks and deliver more reliable research results. The model is not yet available to the public, and the company has not disclosed a release date, API access, pricing or hardware requirements.
