A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee advanced the Strategic Task Force on Scam Prevention Act, H.R. 5967, for consideration by the full chamber. The proposal would direct the Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department to convene a cross-agency task force against digitally enabled scams. Its members would include the FBI, DHS, FCC, SEC and other agencies, and it would consult sectors including generative AI, crypto, payment platforms, search and social media.
