Chrome Holding Co., formerly known as 23andMe, has agreed to a $6 million settlement over allegations that it failed to safeguard customers' personal and genetic information before a 2023 breach, teiss reported, citing California's attorney general. The settlement was filed with the court for the Eastern District of Missouri and requires court approval. Attorney General Rob Bonta said bankruptcy does not exempt companies from California's consumer protection and privacy laws, and reminded customers that they can delete their genetic data regardless of its owner.
