Microsoft announced that Microsoft 365 Family and Premium plans will move from 1 TB of OneDrive storage per member to a shared 2 TB pool. A subscription with six members currently provides 6 TB in total; individual accounts and files will remain private under the new arrangement. A Microsoft spokesperson told ZDNET that shared storage starts October 8, 2026, for new and upgraded subscriptions. Existing subscribers move at their first renewal on or after May 2, 2027. Additional OneDrive storage costs $10 a month per 1 TB. Family members will also gain access to shared AI usage credits, which currently belong only to the subscription owner.
