Xreal sets Aura glasses price at $1,279 and opens limited preorders

Xreal sets Aura glasses price at $1,279 and opens limited preorders Image: Primary
Xreal announced a $1,279 starting price for its Aura mixed-reality glasses and opened preorders to people with paid reservations, WIRED reports. General public preorders will open in the coming weeks. The base model has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, with shipments planned this year in the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. Aura runs on Google's Android XR platform and uses a wired compute puck. WIRED's hands-on demonstration found that its transparent lenses made walking around easier than with Meta's video passthrough, but some Android apps failed to synchronize properly. More regions are planned for 2027.
