Jury selection began Monday in the lawsuit between Elon Musk and Sam Altman over alleged broken promises at OpenAI. Several prospective jurors expressed strongly negative opinions about Musk during the process. According to The Verge, questionnaires included statements such as "Elon Musk is a greedy, racist, homophobic piece of garbage" and "Elon Musk is a world-class jerk." One prospective juror wrote that as a woman of color, she was aware of damaging statements and actions Musk had been part of. Musk's lawyers sought to strike some of those individuals from the pool. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers declined some of those requests, stating, "The reality is that people don't like him. Many people don't like him, but that doesn't mean that Americans nevertheless can't have integrity for the judicial process." The nine selected jurors include some who said they may not like Musk or hold negative views about AI technology, but would not let that interfere with their evaluation of the facts.
