Proton restores services after Frankfurt data-center cooling failure
Image: DCD Proton said its services went offline after a critical cooling failure at a Frankfurt data center and were restored at about 2 a.m. CEST on August 27. The company said it shifted traffic to backup sites, but automatic failover did not trigger because the data center was only partially down. Proton CEO Andy Yen said the failure mode had been known, though mitigation had not been prioritized. The company said it is implementing changes intended to prevent a recurrence.
