Bose acquires Firelight, developer of FMOD game audio software Image: Primary
Bose has acquired Firelight Technologies, the Melbourne company behind FMOD, giving the audio hardware company control of an established software platform for gaming and other interactive applications. FMOD lets developers, sound designers and composers create audio that changes in response to activity in a game or other real-time application. The platform combines an authoring environment with software for real-time playback and integrates with Unity, Unreal and custom game engines. Bose plans to continue supporting FMOD as an open platform and invest in its technology and developer community. Gaming is the initial focus; applications in virtual and augmented reality and automotive systems are potential future markets.
