Anthropic reports Claude use in Russian drone-swarm development

Claude on an iPhone screen Image: Primary
Anthropic reported that a small team of Russia-based freelance developers used Claude to develop software for an autonomous combat-drone swarm, according to a report summarized by Tom's Hardware. The work included swarm coordination, computer vision and terminal guidance; the source says the software could select targets and issue detonation commands without a human in the loop. The developers used development boards for hardware-in-the-loop testing, but the source says it is unclear whether the system was field-tested. Anthropic banned associated accounts after identifying suspected weapons development.
