XRPL plans broader security testing after supply vulnerability disclosure

XRPL plans broader security testing after supply vulnerability disclosure Image: Primary
J. Ayo Akinyele said the XRP Ledger team is expanding AI-assisted vulnerability discovery and adversarial testing after disclosure of a payments engine flaw that could have allowed XRP creation beyond its fixed supply. He said the bug had existed for over a decade and was discovered through the team's bug bounty program before exploitation. The team developed and tested a fix and coordinated validator upgrades before public disclosure, he said. Planned work includes reviewing legacy protocol assumptions with security researchers and accelerating formal verification of critical protocol components.
