PostHog replaces DuckDB warehouse with Trino and its own table format

PostHog replaces DuckDB warehouse with Trino and its own table format Image: Primary
PostHog says it has rebuilt its warehouse around a customized version of Trino and its own HogLake table format after customers' workloads exceeded its DuckDB architecture. The company says single-node workers required advance sizing, while larger instances and disk expansion made complex queries too costly or slow. Its internal DuckLake deployment held about 2 PB when it moved off the system. PostHog says it tested the replacement at its own petabyte scale before handing it to design partners.
