Zerobrew reports faster package installs in development-release benchmark

An up to 100x* faster Homebrew alternative. Contribute to zerobrewhq/zerobrew development by creating an account on GitHub. Image: Primary
Zerobrew's maintainers reported median package installation speeds of 5.3x faster with an empty download cache and 56x faster with cached downloads than Homebrew in an October 8 benchmark. The test compared Zerobrew 0.3.5, a development release, with Homebrew 7.0.8 on a MacBook Pro with an M3 Pro processor. Both tools install packages built by Homebrew. Zerobrew changes installation after downloading: it relocates files within its own process and links them from a store that identifies content to avoid duplication. The maintainers call the tool experimental and recommend running it alongside Homebrew rather than replacing Homebrew.
