Report: Sergey Brin exerts growing influence over Google's Gemini without executive title

Sergey Brin holds no executive title at Google but has become increasingly influential over Gemini, Business Insider reported, citing eight current and former employees. The Google cofounder works from a converted microkitchen at the company's Mountain View headquarters, where he has weighed in on model sizes, release windows and paths to artificial general intelligence. The report, which TNW said it had not independently verified and which Google declined to comment on, follows an August reshuffle in which Demis Hassabis became Alphabet's chief scientist and Koray Kavukcuoglu became senior vice president of Google DeepMind. Employees told the outlet that access to Google's chips can require going through Brin, and that he pushed staff to focus on recursive self-improvement.
