E Ink releases Kaleido 4 with faster refresh and improved color

E Ink releases Kaleido 4 with faster refresh and improved color Image: Primary
E Ink released its Kaleido 4 color electronic paper platform on October 15, naming Hanvon Technology's M10C II notebook as the first device to use it. The company says the platform doubles color gamut volume, increases white reflectance by 15% and improves contrast by 50% compared with the previous generation. A new oxide transistor backplane supports higher driving voltages and faster screen refresh. Combined with Hanvon's display technology and T2000 timing controller, it enables 27% faster page turning and scrolling on the M10C II, E Ink says. New algorithms also support video playback at up to 18 frames per second.
