Researchers release genome-wide genetic variant embeddings

Researchers report generating and publicly releasing numerical representations of genetic variants across the human genome in a preprint. They used text descriptions of variants and two embedding models to produce resources at three scales, including 9 billion possible variants. The representations are available on Hugging Face and were tested in genetic risk predictions using UK Biobank data. The reported results are preliminary research findings, not evidence of clinical use.
