Google opens $899 Googlebook preorders ahead of October release
Image: Primary Google opened preorders Monday for its $899 Googlebook, an Android-based laptop that embeds Gemini into the desktop interface. The devices will reach stores October 4 in the United States and October 5 in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia.
A Gemini-linked cursor can send selected webpage content or images to the model, while the Rambler feature converts dictated notes into edited text. Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo are building the initial machines with Intel or Qualcomm processors and dedicated neural-processing units. Google says existing Chromebooks will remain supported.
