Waymo announced Wednesday it will expand its fully autonomous ride-hailing service to Las Vegas, adding the city to a list of more than 20 new markets slated for future deployment. The company said it will follow the same phased rollout used in existing cities, starting with manual driving and then autonomous driving with a trained specialist before moving to fully autonomous operations. Waymo has not announced a date for when fully autonomous rides will be available to the public in Las Vegas. The list of upcoming markets also includes Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Tampa, New Orleans, Miami, Washington, D.C., Dallas, Denver, Seattle, Nashville, San Diego, Detroit, Houston, Orlando, San Antonio, London and Tokyo. Additional cities are expected to be announced. Waymo said it will work closely with community members, first responders and local and state officials to ensure a safe rollout.
