Global AI-glasses shipments increased 263% year over year in the first half of 2026, according to Counterpoint Research figures reported by 9to5Mac. Meta held 94% of the display-less segment, with its unit volume up 260%; North America represented 50% of shipments and Western Europe 28%. Glasses with optical displays grew 449%, led by Rokid with 41% and Meta with 37%. The expansion is occurring alongside scrutiny of camera-equipped products over non-consensual filming and harassment. The figures are research-firm estimates, while Apple's reported 2027 entry remains a rumor rather than an announced product.
