BMW automates daily cost-anomaly checks across 14,000 cloud accounts

BMW Group says its Cloud Efficiency Analytics system now checks more than 14,000 cloud accounts daily and emails owners when spending departs from expected patterns. The system aggregates roughly 3 billion monthly billing rows, trains forecasts on 365 days of history and processes the estate in about 20 minutes using as many as 500 concurrent functions. Alerts require both statistical deviation and minimum financial impact, with higher thresholds for volatile services. The compute costs about $50 per month, but the detector cannot determine whether a spending increase was intentional and is strongest at identifying spikes rather than sustained changes.
