OpenSSH releases workaround for critical flaw affecting some Alpine Linux systems

OpenSSH 10.6p2 has been released with a workaround for a critical vulnerability affecting Linux systems that use musl libc with PAM disabled, LWN reported. OpenSSH developer Damien Miller urged operators of affected systems, including Alpine Linux, to disable password authentication or SSH immediately. The vulnerability does not affect non-Linux systems, Linux systems using glibc, or Linux systems using PAM for password authentication. Alpine Linux plans to backport the fix through Alpine 3.16, released in May 2022.
