GitLab releases Secrets Manager with job-specific credential access

GitLab releases Secrets Manager with job-specific credential access Image: Primary
GitLab has made Secrets Manager generally available in GitLab 19.5 as a paid add-on for Premium and Ultimate customers on GitLab.com and GitLab Self-Managed. Built on OpenBao, the service stores build-time and runtime credentials under GitLab's permissions and audit system. Pipeline jobs receive only secrets they declare and are authorized to read, with access scoped by project, branch, and environment. Each pipeline read records the pipeline and job IDs. Pricing is 1 GitLab Credit per secret stored per month and 1 credit per 2,500 reads. GitLab Dedicated support and dynamic credentials that eliminate manual rotation are still forthcoming.
