Avatar Robotics raises $6.5M seed led by AlleyCorp for semi-humanoid warehouse robots
Image: Primary Avatar Robotics said it has raised $6.5 million in a seed financing round led by AlleyCorp, following a pre-seed round led by defy.vc. Additional participants included Headline, Henry Ford III, Refashiond, Paul Vogel, Jack Huffard, and Samuel Udotong, The Robot Report reported.
The San Francisco startup, founded in 2024 by MIT graduates Colin Webb and Nenye Anagbogu, said the capital will support deploying semi-humanoid robots in logistics, manufacturing, and warehousing. Plans include scaling robot fleets, expanding customer deployments, advancing autonomy software, and growing engineering and operations teams.
Avatar uses a human-in-the-loop model in which remote operators control mobile manipulators for picking, packing, kitting, sorting, cycle counting, and material handling while generating real-world control data for foundation models. The company said its systems have processed and assisted in shipping more than 900,000 products in live customer facilities, including work for a global beauty retailer, and has begun a post-pilot expansion with a multi-billion-dollar warehouse operator.
