Hassabis announced his decision in a memo, stating he will focus on big picture work and remain in charge of Google's Isomorphic Labs. The daily operation of DeepMind will be handed off to Koray Kavukcuoglu, who will serve as senior vice president reporting directly to CEO Sundar Pichai. Hassabis will become chair of DeepMind and chief scientist at Alphabet.
