Google rolls out Android scam analysis and call-forwarding safeguards

Google rolls out Android scam analysis and call-forwarding safeguards Image: Primary
Google is rolling out Android protections against scam messages and call-forwarding abuse to eligible devices, BleepingComputer reported. Google Messages gains cloud-based Gemini analysis of conversations with unknown senders through its encrypted Private AI Compute environment. The cloud protections are disabled by default and require users to activate them. Additional measures include on-device checks of unfamiliar links and warnings before opening links from unsaved numbers. Android blocks apps from silently enabling call forwarding and warns before manually entered forwarding codes take effect. Sensitive-information masking is expanding to Chrome and Android WebView to hide login fields and payment screens during live screen sharing.
