Databricks introduces Funke for direct parsing of healthcare messages

Databricks introduces Funke for direct parsing of healthcare messages Image: Primary
Databricks introduced Funke, a Python and PySpark library with a deployable pipeline that converts HL7v2 healthcare messages into structured data inside its platform. The company says the successor to Smolder preserves message hierarchy and supports every HL7 message type and version. HL7v2 carries operational messages such as patient admissions and lab results. Funke ingests files, parses their contents into native Spark data, and stores them under Unity Catalog governance, allowing developers and analysts to query individual elements with Python or SQL. Funke is open source under the Databricks License. It does not replace an interface engine or the clinical expertise needed to interpret messages and map fields to business concepts.
