South Korean regulator names 16 financial firms affected by data breaches

South Korean regulator names 16 financial firms affected by data breaches Image: Primary
South Korea's Financial Services Commission named Streami, the operator of Gopax, and Pravang among 16 financial companies affected by customer-data breaches in an October 14 disclosure. The regulator estimated that approximately 100,000 pieces of customer data were exposed, including names, contact details, resident registration numbers and email addresses. Investigators are examining attack methods and whether the incidents share an attacker. Companies are checking their systems against attacker IP addresses shared by authorities, so the affected list could grow. The FSC provided no company-level exposure breakdown; authorities had not identified leaked account passwords or credit card numbers as of the October 14 meeting.
