Discord begins assigning estimated age groups to users globally

Discord is rolling out an age estimation system that assigns users to adult or teen groups using account signals. Starting today, the rollout covers every country except Australia and the UK. Accounts estimated to belong to 13- to 17-year-olds receive sensitive-content filters and restricted access to adult servers and some messaging features. Discord says the signals include account history, activity and connected communities, but exclude messages and calls. Users whose age cannot be estimated must provide more information to unlock some settings and features. Adults placed in the teen group can seek reassignment through account settings, with confirmation options including credit cards, app stores, face scans and IDs.
