Samsung plans to begin operating its first Yongin semiconductor fab in October 2029, advancing its previous target of H2 2030, SammyGuru reported. The company presented the complex's blueprint at the October 3-4 Yongin Cyber Science Festival. It plans to invest around 360 trillion won, or over $260 billion, in six fabs. Construction of the first fab is targeted for 2028. The complex will also include around 70 companies specializing in materials, components, equipment and fabless chip design. Planned supporting infrastructure includes three LNG power plants and industrial water produced by treating wastewater from public sewage facilities.
