Intel plans to shift Panther Lake capacity toward data center chips

Intel plans to take some Panther Lake manufacturing capacity offline to produce more data center chips, Chief Financial Officer David Zinsner said on its third-quarter earnings call. The shift would replace capacity for 18A wafers with Intel 3 production in Oregon. The announcement adds a manufacturing response to Intel's weakening PC outlook. Zinsner said the company expects its client business to decline by more than 20% next quarter. CEO Lip-Bu Tan also confirmed that Nova Lake will be Intel's first client product using its enhanced 18A-P manufacturing process, without specifying which chip components will use it.
