Comparitech records 2627 claimed ransomware attacks in Q3

Comparitech records 2627 claimed ransomware attacks in Q3 Image: Primary
Ransomware groups claimed 2627 attacks in Q3 2026, the highest quarterly total recorded by Comparitech, in a report published October 7. The count rose 27% from Q2 and 61% from Q3 2025; 247 attacks were confirmed by the affected entities. Claimed incidents in technology and finance rose 70% and 72%, respectively, from Q2. Comparitech also highlighted attackers seeking payments from victims' clients after encrypting systems and stealing data. The Gentlemen added MIP Holdings' clients to its leak site after the South African technology company paid to have stolen data deleted. That case shows how paying a ransom can leave customers exposed to further demands.
